Crumbled and Burning Out
This pandemic has me feeling like a driveway
made of crumbling concrete.
Hard, but not so hard
that I cannot crack nor soften.
Like powder in streams,
rippling through fingers.
Easy to forget me.
Particles of me floating through space.
They dust me off their hands,
wash me off with soap and water
as I slide down the drain.
When stars fall,
when they are crushed,
when they crumble and disintegrate,
what happens to their light?
Does it stay, go, or get repurposed?
What brings the light, the energy,
the electricity, the fire, the passion,
the heat, the spark turned sparkle
