Doubt Monster

There are times,

when the

only story

I know is

my own and

it comes out

on the page

in lyric

and line.

I call it

poetry.

Others call

it broken

lines and

garbage.

I take those

shiny rocks

they throw to

distract me

and polish

Different sized light colored stones are in a pile with sticks of wood going horizontally across them. They appear shelved.

and add to

my collection

of refurbished

distractions.

So if I

get doubtful

and need

reminding

I look to

these negatives

and see how

far I have come,

through what

and whom,

and how.

The doubt

monster has

nothing

on me.
