We are born.
Soft, slimy, and partially formed.
Thrust into ascriptions, the labels already pinning us down.
As we grow, some of us
are given the space to put those labels to the test,
to break those ascriptions;
some of us
have never been given space and we go along
not aware of the weight of the status quo
we are hefting;
some of us
wake up one day feeling the weight,
seeing the boxes we have been confined in
and allowed ourselves to be confined to
and we get to stomping.
When we remove the girdle of patriarchy,
unload and burn the two ton book of white supremacy,
and sublimate the throne of professionalism;
We are free to move, free to do, and free to be.
The girdle of patriarchy is wearing thin —
make it threadbare and unravel.
The book of white supremacy is less relevant —
invalidate it and deem it worthy of kindling.
The throne of professionalism is weak —
melt and upcycle it into currency for the impoverished.
Now, is the time to ungird yourself,
let go of your judgments on others and
