In Heat

Feb 8, 2021

The sun’s hotness beams down

and the flower curls its roots into the soil

bracing from the heat

flaming inside

tickling and licking

petals, stem, leaves

sprouting pain and pleasure

growing new tendrils

waiting for the sky’s

release

showering raindrops

cooling until

the next heatwave.

A sunflower in the sun with a bee in its center.
