Joyless Prose Poetry Series
Summary
These prose poems represent the thoughts and feelings I have had being stuck in a depressive, low energy cycle with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. I have spent the better part of a year getting properly diagnosed and doing a trial and error with a brand name thyroid medicine while going off of the generic and attempting to get the dosing right. In this process, I have encountered many symptoms as well as a high energy, getting the shakes, having sweats, and losing weight to feeling depressed, an encroaching failure on everything, not wanting to do anything but lie about, and a disappearing motivation. The series below is an account of crushing depressive emotions. If you or anyone you know struggles with endocrine function and/or hormones off kilter, you can probably relate to some of this.
