Sap Up to Charge

prose on tranquility

A forest of tall pine trees letting a little sunlight in. Shadows of the trees stretch across the center path in the picture and the ground is brown from all the pine needles that have dropped.

I smell the neighbor’s pine tree

while passing on the sidewalk

and I feel an immediate sense of calm.

Charged like a crystal

with tranquil energy.

Beaming an aura of greens, blues, and purples.

Transported to a pine-needle blanket

in the middle of the forest.

Meditating on what the smell of

the tree’s sap does to my being.

Then, I float home.
